We had a great time on-board
Serenity last evening.
We first went down to the Crystal Plaza and chatted with on board Cruising Consultant Daniele along with some friends of ours.

We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at the Avenue Saloon
with dear friends John and Linda.

Afterwards, we were back at the Crystal Dining
Room where we were joined by fellow guest and friend Paul. We met Paul a
few years ago on-board Crystal Serenity. In addition to seeing
Paul from time to time around the ship, Paul is one of the regulars who takes
the indoor cycling classes with Keith and also someone who like Keith
works out on the Elliptical Machine in the Fitness Center. He is also an
avid swimmer, and very health conscious.
Last evening was the first time we have dined with
Paul and we had a fun time being with him.
We each had salads to begin our meal. Like, Keith, Paul also gets a standing order salad but one that is different than the one that Keith has.
All three of us had the same entree which was the a Ginger-Crusted Salmon which was from the Modern Menu.
All three of us also had fruit for dessert. Paul had a fruit plate. Anne Marie had blueberries and Keith had mixed berries.
As usual, we were taken excellent care of by the
Crystal Dining Room waitstaff of Head Waiter Augusto, Senior Waiter Ayhan,
Waiter, Jan and Sommelier Ivanna.
After dinner we spoke with friends Ilene and Andy in the Crystal Plaza and then we spoke with some other friends.
We didn't make it to the show.
We slept very well last evening although since we were docked and in port so there was no gentle rocking of the ship.
Keith was up early and enjoyed another wonderful workout at the Fitness Center. He caught up on a lot of sports highlights on one of the ESPN stations and also watched a good portion of the Golden State/New Orleans National Basketball Association Playoff Game which was rebroadcasted on the other ESPN station.
Afterwards, he was back at the Lido Cafe for coffee and also to read and write. With some of the ships tours beginning as early as 7:45 AM, more staff was up at the Lido Cafe earlier than usual getting everything ready for an early Breakfast.
Anne Marie was up next and walked for one hour inside the ship, finishing short before we had breakfast in our room.
Santarem has a population of close to 300,000 people.
It was settled by the Jesuits in 1661 and eventually received a lot of interest related to the rubber boom of the early 20th century.
Although rubber is no longer key to this area, Santarem is one of Brazil's most important trading centers.
This area is also known for what is called the "Wedding of the Waters". This relates to the unique merging of the Tapajos clear water with the Amazon's buddy water.
We have included photos of the pretty blue painted church known as Igreja Matrix, dating back to 1761.
We have included a couple of photos from the Waterfront area of town.
As was the case in 2013, there were items for sale at the pier. Similarly, we found that the prices were reasonable, and that the locals were not only friendly but proud of the items that they had for sale. They took the time to explain the various items and to demonstrate how several of them worked. We did purchase some items and we did not even think about negotiating on the prices as given that the prices were not only reasonable but that we felt as if we were making a donation.

We didn't purchase any of the Piranha related items. Too scary and we remember stories of some of the items having a foul odor.
Once back on Serenity, we enjoyed lunch at the Lido Cafe. We did make our usual salad entrees.
We enjoyed the ship for the rest of the afternoon.
Anne Marie walked for an hour and worked on knitting and Keith played more paddle tennis for a couple of hours and enjoyed a lot of good laughs and a lot of good paddle tennis. Later, he he met up with dear friend Bob and another friend.
This evening includes a themed event titled Bombshell which is a tribute to the beautiful Marilyn Monroe, We will dine at the Crystal Dining Room.
