Before dinner we watched the sail away from the Palm Court. Sailing into or away from Rio is memorable with the beautiful scenery all around.
Usually, at the time we went to the Palm Court the Sextet Band would be playing, but they were performing at the sail away party which was held outside on the pool deck, so the Galaxy Orchestra performed instead.
Afterwards, we had dinner at Prego with Hotel Director Josef. It was very nice to dine with Josef.
We not only enjoyed a great conversation, but also the cuisine, service and ambience of Prego.
Several items on the menu had been changed with some new items added as well as some items that have been on the menu on other sailings.
All in all it was a fun dinner and a very enjoyable evening.
When we got back to our room and Keith was on the computer, we received a FaceTime call from our son Eric and it was great to talk again with him and to see Grand Baby Jackson.
We slept very well last night as we are now sailing to our next Brazilian port of call in Salvador De Bahia which we will reach tomorrow.
Keith was up first as he always is and enjoyed a workout at the Fitness Center before he went to the Lido Cafe for coffee and to read and to write.
Afterwards, it was Anne Marie's turn and she walked for an hour.
We had breakfast in our room and we watched the Daily Morning Show as we got ready for another wonderful day on board Crystal Serenity. Gary and Stacey welcome all the guests who just joined the ship and they highlighted several of the lecturers who are on board for this voyage. While there are several port days, as they noted there are some ports that we do not arrive to until 12:00 PM/1:00 PM so for each of those morning's it will be a sea day with lectures and other activities scheduled throughout the morning hours.
Since today is a sea day there was lots on the program. This included three lectures;
World Affairs speaker, David Davenport spoke about American Foreign Policy and the challenges that exists in today's world.
Ken Rees Spoke about Salvador and where the Brazilian story began As part of his talk, Ken also spoke about Mcapa which we will visit a few days from today.
Michael McManus spoke about Illegal Drugs and the South America Connection in the afternoon.
Anne Marie had a great time in the two classes she has been taking throughout the World Cruise; Yoga and Knitting.
Keith watched one of the two morning lectures live and the other one later in the day when it was rebroadcasted and played Paddle Tennis in the morning.
For lunch, we were at the Lido Cafe and made our usual salad entrees.
Afterwards, Anne Marie went on another one hour walk and Keith played Paddle Tennis. There are several guests who joined the ship in Rio that Keith knows from playing Paddle Tennis on previous cruises so there were lots of people playing. The sun was fairly strong as we are getting closer to the equator.
Keith also met up with dear friend Bob later in the afternoon and a couple of other guests while Anne Marie worked on her Knitting.
This evening is Black Tie Optional and there is also a Captain's Welcome Reception.
We were invited to Prego and will be dining with a guest that we have known for several years.
