DAY 123 SEA DAY & DAY 115 ON CRYSTAL SERENITY

We wanted to begin by saying that most everyone we spoke with had a wonderful time in Buenos Aires. This included touring the city and surrounding areas, enjoying a nice lunch or dinner or both, taking in a tango show, or shopping.  Speaking of shopping, several people we know have picked up another suitcase in port as they realize their existing suitcases will not accommodate all that they have purchased.  That will not be the case for us.

Yesterday, we said until we see you again to our good friends Hector (the organist) and Lieve.  We have been very fortunate to have sailed with them last year when they were on board for one segment of the World Cruise and then for the North Atlantic cruise in September and again for the Holiday Cruise and for most of this segment of the World Cruise.  We look forward to seeing them again either at sea or at land and thank them so very much for their kindness and friendship.  Hector will be performing some concerts in Buenos Aires over the coming days.  He was born in Argentina and actually performed for Eva Peron when he was a very young boy.

There are so many aspects of travel and cruising that we enjoy and getting to meet so many people from around the World is one of them.

We began last evening, with a pre-dinner drink at the Avenue Saloon with dear friends John and Linda.

Afterwards, we had dinner at the Crystal Dining Room.

We began our meal with salads.

For our entree, we both had the Tiger Shrimp Entree which was served with Whild Mushroom, Risotto, Zucchini and Balsamic Foam.  The shrimp were very tasty and we enjoyed the items that accompanied the Shrimp.

Keith also ordered the Indian Lamb Curry, which has accompanied with Biryani, Coconut Fried Bananas and Traditional Condiments.  He just had the Lamb Curry and a little bit of the rice.  He thought it was very tasty and it was not very spicy.  With talk about Curry, Head Waiter Augusto suggested he make something special for Keith the following night with Curry so Keith is going to try that this evening.

During our meal, Celebrity Chef Jon Ashton from Liverpool also stopped by our table.  Some of his dishes were on the menu. We took a photo of Jon with our Sommelier Ivana and our Head Waiter Augusto.

We have enjoyed speaking with Jon throughout the voyage.  We had first spoken with him when we were with Karl who plays Paul McCartney in the Beatles Celebration group and that conversation has carried over to several other conversations.  He is quite friendly and also very humorous as you can see with his wine glass in hand.

Speaking of Jon, this morning he had another cooking demonstration.

Shortly after we dined, we went to the Carnival which is a tradition of World Cruises.  It is held outside on the same deck as the Pool and features a variety of games that one might find at a Carnival on land and the staff is dressed up in various costumes.  If you win an event, you get tickets and those tickets can be used to collect a prize(s).  We always enjoy the Carnivals as for us we believe it brings out the "kid" in most people.

Rather than calling it a Carnival, given where we are sailing they called it a Fair and titled the event Boca Bash.

It was a bit windy outside and somewhat cooler but that didn't impact our enjoyment of the event.  We both started off quite well.  Maybe it was the alignment of the stars, but we won most of the games we began to play.

If you won, you received a gold coin (well not real gold) which you could turn in at the desk with prizes which was manned by World Cruise Hostess Stacey Huston.

World Cruise Event Coordinator Shane Morley with Criuse Director Gary at the Dunking Booth.  Keith was up first to give it a try when Gary Hunter was seated but unlike 2013 when on his third and final throw Keith dunked Gary, this time Keith was 0 for 3.

Anne Marie with Dancer Beverly and friend Ann Russell.

We had enough coins from winning various events to select two of the nicer prizes.

We slept very well as the ship is sailing to Rio de Janeiro.  The seas were relatively calm and we do find that the gentle rocking of the ship makes it easy to get to sleep.

We enjoyed the same morning routine as we do on most days.  Keith was up first and worked out at the Fitness Center.  Then he was off to the Lido Cafe for some coffee and to read and write.  Shortly after Anne Marie woke, she went on her one hour walk around the ship.  We had our regular breakfast of Oatmeal and fruit as we watched the Daily Morning Show with Cruise Director Gary and World Cruise Hostess Stacey.

We both had fitness classes at the same time.  Keith took the indoor cycling class, while Anne Marie took Yoga.  Later in the morning, Anne Marie also went to the Knitting Class and Keith played Paddle Tennis.

Since today was a sea day there was lots on the schedule.  In addition to Celebrity Chef Jon Ashton's Cooking Demonstration,  Kathryn Childers, spoke about the world of live television including why most people are scared to appear on the small screen.  Later in the afternoon, Dr. Robert Wilder spoke about the changing sea over the past three decades including higher sea temperatures, invasive species, overfishing, and loss of biodiversity which are all influencing global oceans.

For lunch, we were back at the Crystal Dining Room.

In the afternoon, Keith was going to play Paddle Tennis but it started to rain as we were eating lunch so Keith went back to the Fitness Center to workout again.  At the same time, Anne Marie walked for an hour inside the ship.

Later, Keith met up with dear friend Bob and Anne Marie worked on knitting and we also caught up on those lectures which we missed today.

This evening we will be back in the Crystal Dining Room for dinner.
