DAY 115 SEA DAY & DAY 107 ON CRYSTAL SERENITY

Last evening we had a pre-dinner drink with dear friends John and Linda at the Avenue Saloon.

On this segment, Lido Deck Steward Nat is in the Avenue Saloon before dinner serving an assortment of Canapés.

Afterwards, we had dinner with friends Jim and Judy.  Anne Marie first met Jim and Judy in the Laundry room while on World Cruise 2007 and as they say the rest is history.  Since that time, we dined with Jim and Judy on one segment of World Cruise 2007 (back when we were still dining at tables for six) and we sailed with them on World Cruise 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014 and now 2015.  They are a lovely couple who we have shared many memories with over the years including sitting with them at several different shoreside events.

We began with a specialty from the Chef.

We both had the Ravioli additional entree as an appetizer.  Beneath the foam was the Ravioli.

Anne Marie had Veal and Keith and Striped Bass which is featured in the photo below.

All in all we enjoyed a wonderful dinner with terrific friends.  We never ran out of items to talk about.

Another special show was put together for everyone on the World Cruise and the theme was "Out of Africa".  In preparation for the show, the Crystal Plaza featured some decorations as did the outside of the Galaxy Theatre where the actual show was shown.

The show was another wow and it is incredible how these shows are not developed on land, but are developed at sea and then performed as if they had been performed for one year or more.  The professionalism of the entertainment department is second to none.

We slept very well last evening.  The seas had looked like glass yesterday afternoon

At the same time, the seas were relatively calm last evening  Ironically, during Captain Giske's Noon talk from the bridge at Noon yesterday,  he noted that late tonight the seas would turn very rough with strong winds and high sea swells.

Keith was up first and enjoyed another good workout at the Fitness Center.  As he was leaving a woman guest who works out for quite awhile each morning said to Keith "I wonder if we will be up here tomorrow." because of the weather forecast.  Keith responded by saying "might be a good idea to get in an extra workout today just in case."  LOL, but true.  After his workout, Keith had coffee at the Lido Cafe Anne Marie walked for an hour.  We had breakfast in our room and shortly after breakfast, Keith attended an indoor cycling class.

At 9:00 AM, Captain Giske spoke from the Bridge.  He did this at 9:00 AM rather than his usual time of Noon, since there is an event that goes from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM today.  More on that in a few minutes.

Captain Giske said that late tonight winds would pick up and get up to 50 knots (65 miles per hour) and sea swells could get up as high as 20 feet.  Should be an interesting night into the early morning hours.

While Keith was in the cycling class, Anne Marie attended Yoga.
Anne Marie also attend the knitting class.  Keith also played Paddle Tennis in the morning.

There were three great lectures on the schedule.

Sir Michael Rose spoke about Middle East Wars of the 21st Century.

Kathryn Childers who is one of the first five women hired by the United States Secret Service spoke about how a girl like her got a job at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

In the afternoon, Glenn Rosenbulm spoke about groundbreaking plays including Fiddler On The Roof to Hair.

At 11:45 AM, we attended a mixer at the Crystal Plaza which featured the Beatles Celebration group.

Keith wore one of two Beatles Shirts which he has on board that our daughter, Jennifer, had given to him a few years ago.  Also, a Beatles Hat that Keith bought at a Beatles Store in London last year.

We both danced for the entire 45 minutes that the Beatles Celebration Group played.  It was similar to another workout.

We arrived to the Plaza about 30 minutes before the show began and watched the Beatles Celebration Group practicing.  Once they began we were the first up to dance and never left the dance floor.

When they were practicing and doing the sound check the only "Beatle" in dress for the show was Ringo.

While they were practicing and doing the sound check we sat with two other guests and with Mary Jean who is the owner of the Travel Agency we use and our Agent Gerri.  Gerri is to the right of Keith and Mary Jean was to the right of Anne Marie.

Afterwards, we had lunch in the Crystal Dining Room with Cruise Director Gary, his wife, Kelly, and dear friends John and Linda.  Gary's wife came on board in Cape Town and will stay on board until we arrive to Buenos Aires.  This was her first time in Cape Town and will also be her first time to Buenos Aires.

Following lunch, Anne Marie walked for an hour and Keith got together with dear friend Bob and another guest.

This evening we will dine at Tastes, and we also have a party to attend much later in the evening.

All in all it was another wonderful day on Serenity and we have a fun filled evening to look forward to.
TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY......
