We enjoyed another wonderful evening on Crystal Serenity last night.
The evening began with a special event for those taking the full World Cruise which was held at the Officer's Quarters. This would be the quarters for the Captain, Vice Captain, Hotel Director and Chief Engineer. Each of the Quarter's were decorated.
Keith attended this special event while Anne Marie was getting ready for dinner.
The first room Keith entered was the Hotel Director’s Quarters
where we could answer a question and if correct win a prize. The question was who was the Hotel
Director for the inaugural voyage of Crystal Serenity in 2003 and I was lucky enough
to answer the question correctly.
This is the corridor which led to the Captain's Quarters. There were balloon lining the side wall and plaques commemorating first time visits for Serenity to ports of call around the world line both sides of the corridor. The Captain and the Hotel Director's Quarters are on the Starboard side of the ship (right side) and the Vice Captain and Chief Engineer's quarters are on the port (left) side of the ship.

Line Captain Dimitri, Along with Vocalists Sarah and Jonathan. Sarah and Jonathan are on board just for the World Cruise as they were last year. When on land Sarah performs with a Big Band and once in awhile that Big Band has been on a Big Band themed cruise and Jonathan performs at different venues across the United States. Dmitri is absolutely amazing and became line captain when Shane Morley retired from that position last summer. Shane is back for this year's World Cruise as the World Cruise Events Coordinator and from time-to-time has been in some of the special shows created just for this year's World Cruise.
A few hours later we attended a party and had a wonderful time as well.
We were up a lot later than is our norm. Thankfully, we set the clocks back another hour as we sail into year another new time zone in preparation for our arrival to South America.
By around 3:00 AM the winds and swells were moving the Serenity around. It was not as rough as it might have been as the Captain had taken the ship further North to get in front of the high winds and that made a big difference. Keith had been told last night that the Fitness Center would be closed in the early morning so he didn't even try to go there and slept in a little later since we had gone to sleep so late.
When he woke he did some laundry and read and wrote and then had coffee at the Lido Cafe.
Anne Marie woke around her normal time and after having some coffee we both walked together inside the ship.
We had breakfast in our room as we watched the Daily Morning Show. Gary had the show off so Stacey hosted the program and had dance instructors Curtis & Beverly on-board.
Stacey began with Crystal as a dance instructor. She danced with Curtis on another cruise line. Stacey has known Curtis and Beverly for twenty years.
Curtis is has been on 14 World Cruises and Beverly 8 World Cruises.
In addition to offering dance classes, they also have responsibility for the Ambassador Hosts who dance with the solo women and also from time to time they perform in the evening shows. They are in amazing shape.
Today featured a lot of activities as you would see on a World Cruise on any sea day. Since this is also a Cooking themed cruise one of the morning activities included a Cooking Demonstration by Celebrity Chef Jon Aston.
There were a couple of lectures;
Ambassador Tony Leon spoke about what's up and what's down in South Africa and in the afternoon Lord David Steel spoke about The London to Cape Town classic car rally.
Keith planned to attend the morning indoor cycling class which was was to be taught by Fitness Director Chase, but unfortunately due to the rough seas, the Fitness Center was closed. Instead, he sat at what some refer to our office at the Crystal Cove, and spoke with several fellow guests and members of the crew.
By around 9:30 AM we were pretty much on our original course and while we had a little more movement than we did earlier in the morning it was not as bad as we had when we were sailing near Australia.
Later, Keith watched the Lecture given by Ambassador Tony Leon. The lecture was attended by a good number of guests but it was not as full as it might have been if the seas had been calm as some people were staying in their rooms.
Anne Marie took Yoga and also attended the Knitting Class.
We had lunch, once again, at the Crystal Dining Room with friends Lieve and Hector. Hector is a well renowned Organist and last night performed and will perform again in a few days. He is so well regarded that his organ is keep on the ship so that the times he does come on board to entertain it is there for him to use. Keith first met Edie playing Paddle Tennis a few years ago. We sailed with them over the Holiday Cruise and we also sailed with them last September and joined them for dinner with two other couples to celebrate Lieve's birthday. They are a lovely couple.
When we were together last we realized that this year that Anne Marie, Lieve and Keith were all turning the same age so we today's lunch was in celebration of that although we had our usual salad entrees. We actually toasted with water in our glasses. LOL, but so very true.
In the afternoon, Anne Marie walked for an hour and also continued to knit while Keith watched one lecture on television and also met up with dear friend Bob.
Tonight we are back at the Crystal Dining Room.
