DAY 117 SEA DAY & DAY 109 ON CRYSTAL SERENITY

Before dinner last evening we had a pre-dinner drink with dear friend John and Linda.

From there we went to the Hollywood Theatre where Neil the Manager of the Photo Shop was taking photos.  Neil is trying to change things up by using different venues for interior photo shots.

Afterwards, we made our way to the Crystal Dining Room for dinner.

We began our meal with Tuna Tartare for Keith and a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail for Anne Marie.

For our next course, Keith had his standing order salad while Anne Marie had a Spinach Salad..

We both had the same entree which was from the Modern Cuisine Menu which was the Chilean Seabass.  It was accompanied with Truffled Cauliflower Puree, Mushroom Confit & Red Wine Glaze. It was very moist and it was so good that we have ordered it for tomorrow night.

We also had our standard order of vegetables.

For our third and final course Keith had Mixed Berries and Anne Marie had Blueberries.

We then attended a Cruise Critic Party.  This was the least attended party of all of them.  One of the reasons might have been the timing of when the invitations were sent out and that the seas were still somewhat rough last night.

Speaking of seas, because of the weather the Production Show called Curtain Call was cancelled and Cruise Director Gary Hunter made the announcement of the program change shortly after we arrived to the Crystal Dining Room.  Instead, the show was replaced with another act and will be shown tonight.  In weather such as what we were encountering when the ship was rocking so much it would have been too dangerous for the dancers.  In fact, the venue where Ambassador Hosts who dance with those women who travel solo and like to dance was moved from the Palm Court which is located on the highest inside deck all the way forward on the ship was moved to the Crystal Plaza which is located on the lowest public deck and in the center of the ship.

We slept very well last evening.  We were very tired from being at a late night party the night before so it was easy to fall asleep.

Keith was up first and was very happy that the Fitness Center was open.  He worked out for quite a long time trying to make up for the missed day the day before when the Center had been closed for half the day.  There were more people up there before Keith finished than normal partly because we had set the clock back the night before and also, like Keith, had missed working out the day before.

Keith made his usual stop to the Lido Cafe for coffee, and to read and write.

Anne Marie got in a full one hour workout before we had breakfast in our room while we watched the Daily Morning Show.

There were three very interesting/informative lectures that were presented today.

Destination Lecturer Ken Rees spoke about Uruguay which was followed by a talk given by Kathryn Childers who was part of the Secret Service and one of the first five women hired into the agency as a Secret Service Agent who spoke about protecting Caroline Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr.  The third talk was given by Dr. Robert Wilder who spoke about the cost of driving solar powered cars and how they are more cost effective than one might think.

Anne Marie went to Yoga in the morning.  There are two Yoga Classes that are taught by Yoga Instructor and friend Maria Kita with assistance from Memoir Write and friend Joe Kita.  Anne Marie goes to the second one that is called Gentle Yoga. She has really enjoyed this class both this year and when she took it last year.  A little while after the class ended, Anne Marie went to the Knitting Class.

Keith had the opportunity this morning to see first hand the Guitars that the Beatles Celebration Group is using on board Serenity.  These are guitars that are made by the same company and are the same type of guitars used by Paul, George and John.  Some photos were taken and we will post them on the next segment of the World Cruise.  Karl, explained each guitar to Keith and, in particular, went over the Guitar the Paul McCartney uses as it is for a lefty.

Keith also managed to play an hour of Paddle Tennis in the morning.  It was quite windy so you never quite knew whether the ball would stay on the court or go outside the court.  The ship was not rolling so the footing was fine.

We enjoyed lunch at the Lido Cafe.  We made our usual lunch which was salad entrees for each of us.

Afterwards, Anne Marie walked inside as it was too windy for her to walk outside.  Keith played more Paddle Tennis and it seemed even windier than in the morning.

Later in the afternoon Keith met up with dear friend Bob and another guest.   Anne Marie worked on her knitting.

Today is Glo's birthday so we would like to take a moment to wish Glo a very Happy Birthday.

We look forward to a fun time on Serenity this evening and will post all about it tomorrow.

  1. Is the necklace Anne Marie is wearing in this post the milestone birthday present you purchased in St Maarten?

I really enjoyed your safari pictures!
