These are the guitars that the Beatles Celebration group used during their performances and the same guitars that the Beatles used.
As this was the first sea day of this final segment of World Cruise 2015, it was a Black Tie Optional Night and the evening also included a Captain's Welcome Aboard Reception.
We returned to Prego for the second consecutive night as we were invited to dine at this venue by friend Marv. We first met Marv on the 2007 World Cruise and have sailed with him on subsequent World Cruises.
We didn't take any photos of the cuisine as Keith took a break from this and decided to leave the camera back in the room so we will briefly describe what we had.
We each began our meal with an appetizer of the additional pasta item which one could have as an appetizer and entree. Second course was a Caesar Salad for Anne Marie and Keith's standing order salad.
We wanted to highlight the entree. Keith had the Branzno Fish Entree, which he had the night before and is back on the menu as of this segment of the World Cruise. For the very first time in all the years we have been dining at Prego, Anne Marie had the Filet Mignon. She didn't eat it all and Keith had a small amount of what Anne Marie didn't have. We thought it was the best tasting and prepared Filet Mignon that we have had on the ship and one of the best we have ever eaten. It was cooked to perfection and very tasty. We do realize that very tasty related to items it is cooked with including butter and some cheese but it was certainly a wow for us. We finished the meal with our dessert which for us was a fruit plate.
All in all we enjoyed a wonderful time over dinner with Marvin and we were taken excellent care of by the outstanding Prego Wait Staff team including Sommelier Jiri, Waiter Costa, Head Waiter Slavko and Specialty Restaurant Maitre d' Antonio. They truly make this a wonderful dining experience.
We slept well last night as we were sailing to our next port of call. The seas were very calm.
We began today the way we have begun just about each and everyday since we boarded Serenity with our usual morning workouts.
We had breakfast in our room and then we prepared for our visit to Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. This city has a total population of close to seven million people.
It is the largest city on the northeast coast of Brazil.
In the mid 1500's the city was settled. It was built over the bay and in no time it became Brazil's major seaport for the sugar industry and for slave trade. It was the first capital of Brazil until 1763. It is because of its history that items such as its music was influenced by Africa.
Shortly after arriving to this port and the announcement was made that the ship was clear we went into port. When the ship was first cleared, it started to rain but about 15 minutes later the rain stopped and it never rained for the remainder of the day.
We walked along the shoreline as we made our way into town which was around a 10 minute walk.
Our plan was to go from the lower level of the city (Cidade Baixa) to the uppercity level Cidade Alta). There are three choices: Elevator, Funiculars (not recommended) or taxi. We went with the elevators and this is why we didn't take items such as a phone with us. We were warned that when they fill the elevators that you really have to watch your possessions since you pretty much have wall to wall people so we thought it best to limit what we took with us for todays visit.

There is a charge to take the elevator up to the second level.
We enjoyed our walk along the upper level of this city. We were very mindful of our surroundings and we didn't venture onto any alleyways but overall we did feel safe where we walked. From time to time someone would stop us to try to sell us something and there were some locals who were tour guides asking if we wanted a tour. In all cases, we found the locals we had contact with to be friendly, and not pushy as you sometimes find in other places around the world. Often when we said no thank you they would wish us a nice day.

This is the elevator that we took from the upper level back down to the ground level.
The ground level is fairly run down and not the highlight of the visit. This building was indicative of the looks of the ground level buildings.
We enjoyed lunch back on Serenity and we ate at the Lido Cafe where we each made ourselves a nice Salad Entree.
In the afternoon, we made it a sea day.
Keith played Paddle Tennis in the afternoon with some officers and guests. It was humid but he had a lot of fun. Afterwards, Keith met up with dear friend Bob and another guest. Anne Marie walked for an hour and continued to work on her knitting.
This evening we plan to dine back at the Crystal Dining Room.
