Some additional photos that the ship's photographer's took of us as part of the photo package we purchased. As part of the package, we own the copyrights.
Dinner at Silk Road with dear friends Lynn & Buddy.
We wanted to begin by saying that we are enjoying each and every minute of our time on Crystal Serenity. We hope this is conveyed to each of you through our blog. Each day brings new enjoyment whether at sea, or on land, whether participating in an activity, attending a show, enjoying a meal, seeing long-time or newly made friend or just reading a book. As we have mentioned before on a World Cruise the ship is transformed to a small town and that has taken place on this World Cruise as in the past.
Before dinner last evening we went for a photo shoot at the Lido Cafe. The on board photographers have been trying to change things up for those of us who have been having a lot of photos taken. Neil who is Manager of the Photo Studio took some unique photos at the Lido Cafe and when we will plan to post them on the next segment of the World Cruise.
Afterwards, we went for a pre-dinner drink at the Avenue Saloon with friends John and Linda. John and Linda were going to Tastes 30 minutes before we were going to dinner, so after they went to dinner we walked down to the Crystal Cove where we ran into and saw friends Lynn and Buddy, and Joe and Maria and we sat with them for awhile.
The first of the World Games Ceremonies was held last evening.
We then went to dinner at Prego and our guest for the evening was Marvin, but most of us call him Marv. We first met Marv on the 2007 World Cruise and have sailed with him on several different World Cruises.
This was our first time to Prego since this segment began and with waiter Marija on holiday our waiter for the evening was Costa. Costa was the waiter we have had regularly for the past few years. He returned to the ship on the last segment, but we felt that we should stay with Marija knowing we would have Costa after she went on Holiday. Also returning from Holiday was Slavka who took Mario's spot as Head Waiter for Prego as Mario has also gone on a well deserved Holiday. When Slavka is on with Specialty Restaurant Maitre d' Antonio, Slavka is the Head Waiter of Prego. When Antonio goes on Holiday, then Salvia becomes the Specialty Restaurant Maitre d' and Mario is the Head Waiter. Confused. LOL, but this really is how it works. Slavka essentially swings back and forth between Head Waiter and Specialty Restaurant Maitre d'.
When we arrived to Prego, we were greeted by Antonio and Slavka and then Antonio escorted the three of us to our table. Throughout the evening, both Antonio and Slavka came by several times to make sure everything was going very well.
Dinner was terrific. We ate too much. LOL, but true. We each had eggplant parmigiana as an appetizer, salads as our next course, and then striped bass for Keith and chicken for Anne Marie. Normally, the two of us have Keith's standing order salad, but Anne Marie opted for the Caesar Salad and Marv decided to try Keith's standing order salad to change things up.
We had sent down a nice bottle of red wine and Jiri the Sommelier had decanted it for us around 45 minutes before we arrived.
We took our time over a nice dinner with lots of good conversation and dined for over two hours.
The good news is when we arrived back to our room, once again, we set the clock back one hour before we went to sleep. The seas continued to be relatively calm, but there was enough movement of the ship to gently rock us to sleep.
With the added hour, Keith was up quite early and back in the Fitness Center for a workout before he had coffee at the Lido Cafe. Even for Keith there are someday's that it is easier to get through a workout than others and someday's when it seems impossible to get through the workout. Today was one of those easy days and Keith put in a long workout while catching up on the news of the day. There seemed to be a lot in the news to keep Keith occupied. He also watched one of the lectures given yesterday that he didn't have the opportunity to see. He also went back to the Fitness Center for a second workout shortly after he bought coffee back to the room for Anne Marie.
Anne Marie was able to walk one hour before we had breakfast in our room. As usual, we watched the daily morning show as we had breakfast.
Gary and Stacey had Olympian Mark Schultz on today's show as later today they will be showing the major motion picture made about Mark and his family called Foxcatcher this afternoon (they had also shown it twice last night). It will be shown at the Galaxy Showroom since it will accommodate more guests than the Holiday Theatre and then following the movie there will be a Question and Answer Session with Mark that will be hosted by Gary Hunter.
Today was the last sea day before our next port of call.
There was lots on the program including three lectures:
Roman Pryjomko spoke about hunters, howlers and better angels with emphasis on understanding violence.
Tom DeFrank spoke about the 2016 Presidential Election. To, think we have twenty months to go.
Guy Bavli spoke about hypnosis.
The World Cruise Games included:
FreeCell
Paddle Tennis, Men's Singles
Shuffleboard, Men's Doubles
Paddle Tennis, Ladies' Doubles
Walking Relay, Mixed Doubles
Anne Marie had to skip the morning Yoga Class as she went to the hair salon this morning. She did make it to knitting later in the morning. She is now working on knitting socks for the very first time.
Keith played singles men's Paddle Tennis. In the second round, his opponent turned out to be the person who won the gold. Because of time, they play to whoever wins four. Keith won the first two but then lost the next four. He had a great time and it really is about having a lot of fun which he did.
We enjoyed lunch at the Lido Cafe where we each had a salad entree.
In the afternoon Keith played more paddle tennis with fellow guests and then later on he met with dear friend Bob.
Anne Marie walked for an hour and then she worked on her knitting projects.
This evening we will be back at the Crystal Dining Room. It will be nice to be back at the Dining Room after being away for the past few days.
TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY......
