DAY 87 AT SEA & DAY 79 CRYSTAL SERENITY

We wanted to first note that yesterday, Captain Giske mentioned that we were half way through the World Cruise as it was day 54.  He also said that around the time we reach Fremantle/Perth that we will be around halfway through the World Cruise in terms of distance traveled.

Also, at around 3:00 PM, Captain Giske spoke from the bridge and let us know that the Serenity had turned around and was heading towards where we had come from due to a Medical Emergency and that he would provide another update later.  At around 7:00 PM, Captain Giske let everyone know that the patient had successfully been removed from Serenity via Helicopter.  He said that we were now sailing the original course and that he would provide another update at 12:00 Noon today.  This is yet another reminder to appreciate each and everyday.

We sat at the Crystal Cove before dinner last evening with dear friends John and Linda.

We were back in the Crystal Dining Room for dinner.  We each began our meal with salads.

For our entree, Keith changed it up and went with the Indian vegetable Curry with Vegetable Biryani, Raita, Mango Chutney, Papadums.  It as not very spicy and Keith thought it was very tasty.

Anne Marie had the Butter Poached Turbot, which was accompanied with Creamed Peas, Saffron Nage, and Olive Oil Croutons.  Keith also had a small portion of juts the Turbot.  We both thought that it was a good entree.

We didn't go to the evening entertainment and instead went back to our room to read and write.

We slept very well last evening as we usually do when at sea.

Keith was up early and you all know the routine which included a workout at the Fitness Center, a stop at the Lido Cafe to have coffee and to read and write.

Anne Marie was up early and she walked for an hour inside the ship while Keith went back to the Fitness Center.

We enjoyed breakfast in the room as we listened to the Daily Morning Show with Gary and Stacey.

We enjoyed another wonderful day at sea.

We were sailing at over 20 knots so that we could get back on schedule for tomorrows visit to Albany, Australia.

There were three lectures on the schedule.

This included:

A talk by Jon Stainton who spoke about Steve Erwin and his adventure into the crumbling wrecks and skeletal remains that litter the Pacific Ocean.

Next up was Sir Roger Carrick who spoke about diplomatic anecdotage.

Finally, Neil Leifer shared with us Iconic Photographs of the 20th Century.

Keith watched two of the three lectures.

Anne Marie took Yoga and later in the morning wen tot he Odyssey Art at Sea Knitting Class.

Keith also spoke with some fellow friends such as Ilene and Andy and we also met with a couple of members of the crew.

For lunch, we were back at the Lido Cafe and made salad entrees.

In the afternoon, Keith ended up going to the Fitness Center as it was windy, and overcast so not good weather for Paddle Tennis and it started to drizzle.  Due to the winds and swells, Anne Marie walked inside the ship.

Later in the afternoon, Keith got together with dear friend Bob and a couple of fellow guests while Anne Marie continued to work on her knitting.

This evening we will dine at Prego.

It is a formal optional evening, including a reception with Captain Giske.

TODAY'S THOUGHT OF THE DAY.........
