There were all forms of transportation in town.
The Town's Butcher.
Coca Cola and Beer. As Keith walked the town from time to time he would see someone pushing a cart with these items and assumes they were delivering them to some of the restaurants in town.
There were some dogs wandering around town Some looked on the thin side while others looked nourished. These two were resting.
Before dinner last evening, we had a pre-dinner drink at the Avenue Saloon with dear friends John and Linda.
Linda with Jun. In the various lounges, before dinner two or three types of canapés are offered.
Afterwards, we were back at the Crystal Dining Room after being away for a couple of nights.
Our special guests for the evening were Rabbi Morrie and his lovely wife Geri. We have had the privilege of knowing the two of them them since 2007 when we met them on the 2007 World Cruise on board Serenity. Since that time, we have sailed with them on seven other World Cruises all on Serenity, and on a couple of other cruises on board sister ship Symphony. They are truly wonderful people and we also think that the Morrie does an absolutely wonderful job in his role as the ship's Rabbi.
Crystal will bring on board a Rabbi for each World Cruise and then have a Rabbi on board each ship for the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and for Passover and for Chanukah and for the Holiday Cruise even if Chanukah falls on the cruise prior to that. They have a Catholic Priest on all voyages for not only the guests but for the crew, and like the Rabbi Crystal will have a Minister on board for each World Cruise, Easter and the Holiday Cruise. All of this adds to the feeling of family and community, particularly on a World Cruise.
In addition to conducting Friday night Sabbath Services, and holiday services such as for Purim, and Passover, Rabbi Morri also holds what is called Rap With The Rabbi usually every other day on sea days. In fact, there is a Rap With the Rabbi today. In each Rap, he comes in with one or more topics to discuss and then not only shares his views but solicits the views of all of those who attend. While in 2007 most of the people attending were of the Jewish Faith over the years, this program has attracted more and more people of other faiths which we believe is great. In the end this is part of enrichment and the opportunity for anyone to learn such as learning about other faiths. All of this also adds to the feeling of community and family on board the World Cruise.
One more thing about the Rabbi. He has a terrific sense of humor and is one of the participants in the Liar's Club.
We each began our meal with Salads and for our entree we both had the Dorado Royal Fish which came with Spring Risotto, Baby Fennel and White Tomato Foam. It was cooked perfectly and it was very tasty. We also had our nice sized portion of vegetables.
For dessert, it was Blueberries for Anne Marie and mixed Berries for Keith.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at dinner and look forward to getting together again before the conclusion of the World Cruise. It was so nice to catch up with Morrie and Geri about a wide range of topics including each of our families.
We slept very well last evening. The seas were relatively calm.
Like clockwork, Keith was up first and enjoyed a nice workout at the Fitness Center. During his workout he caught up with the news of the day. Or maybe it was the news of yesterday since it was the night before in the United States.
Afterwards, he was back at the Lido Cafe for coffee and he read and wrote.
Anne Marie walked for one hour inside the ship since it was raining outside, before we had breakfast in our room.
Following breakfast, Keith took another indoor cycling class which was taught be fitness director Chase. It had been a few days since Keith's last class so he was happy to be back in the "saddle". For the first time the class was not full. In fact, three bikes were empty and there were three no shows.
Anne Marie attended the second of the Yoga Classes as she normally does. This class is called gentle Yoga.
Later in the morning, Anne Marie attended the knitting class. There are many people that we both know who attend this class including Glo, BJ, Helen, Mary Ellen, Lois, Elizabeth and a few other women. The women are having a great time attending this class.
Since we are at sea today there was an abundance of other programs on the schedule. This included three lectures:
Ken Rees spoke about Mozambique and contrasted today where peace appears to be around the corner compared to year's past which included a very bloody civil war.
Dr. Hussein Hassouna spoke about his personal experiences with respect to diplomacy around the world. Ambassador Hussein is chief representative of the League of Arab States to the United States. He has served in a variety of positions in Egypt.
Ed Larson spoke in the afternoon about George Washington including shedding new light about George Washington's role in establishing the United States. He touched on the 2015 New York Times Bestseller, "The Return of George Washington, 1783 - 1789."
The World Games also continued with events for Mixed Doubles Shuffleboard, Golf Putting, and Mixed Doubles Table Tennis.
Golf Putting included four holes and each hole had a different theme.
Once again, we enjoyed lunch at the Lido Cafe and we each made a salad entree.
Keith played more Paddle Tennis in the afternoon and it was definitely hot, hot, hot. Later in the afternoon he also met up with dear friend Bob along with a couple of other guests.
Anne Marie walked for an hour and also worked on her knitting.
This evening we will be dining at Prego and will have a special guest dining with us. We will post all about that tomorrow.
