Before dinner, last evening we were back at the Crystal Cove for a pre-dinner drink. When we say a pre-dinner drink, lately it has been a Perrier for each of us. The Cove has been quite busy with all of these sea days. We sat with another couple who live in Hawaii and enjoyed conversing with them. They will be on board for the next voyage as well.
We then went to the Crystal Dining Room for dinner.
Flowers were outside the Dining Room for Mother's Day.
Typically, on formal nights the Dining Room can be quite crowded and interestingly enough it was not very full for the first 30 minutes. At that point several more people showed up including people who normally dine later in the evening.
Head Waiter Augusto had offered to prepare for us a couple of items for this evening's dinner.
We each began with an appetizer. Keith had Tuna Tartare prepared by Augusto and Anne Marie had a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. Keith thought that the Tuna Tartare was very tasty.
For our next course, we each had salads.
Augusto prepared our entree for us and it was at his suggestion. We each had Veal Scallopini prepared Augusto style. The Veal was very tasty and we really appreciate Augusto making it for us. The sauce is a blend of lemon, wine and capers.
Our last course was berries.
A little while after we finished dinner we went to the Crystal Society Reception which as we have mentioned in the past honors all members of Crystal Society and also recognizes a few individuals/couples who are celebrating very special milestones. On this cruise there are over 600 Crystal Society Members.
There were two recognitions last evening.
We were the first ones to be recognized. Crystal Society Hostess Isabell read a short biography of us mentioning when we began sailing Crystal, some information on the number of cruises and world cruises we have sailed with Crystal and why we keep returning to Crystal. We were then escorted to the front of the room by Cruise Director Rick and Anne Marie was presented with a bouquet of flowers and Keith a boutonnière for his lapel. Photos were taken by the Manager of the Crystal Photo Studio and we posed with Captain Birger, Cruise Director Rick and Crystal Society Hostess Isabell.
The other passenger who was recognized who we have personally known for several years was Pauline who is one of four women who now live on-board Crystal Serenity. With this current voyage, Pauline has now sailed 345 Crystal Voyages which is the highest number of voyages sailed by any guest in the history of Crystal Cruises.
We didn't have any photos taken from our own camera but Anne Marie took this photo of Keith after we returned back to the room. Not sure why the room looks yellow though.
The show last night was one of our favorite shows, Across The Pond featuring many of the songs from the British Invasion of the 1960's.
We both slept very well last evening. The movement of the ship does rock us to sleep.
We began the morning as we normally do and by now you all know the routine. Keith was up first, worked out at the Fitness Center and read and wrote in the Lido Cafe while he had coffee.
Anne Marie was up next and walked for one hour before we had breakfast in our room. Last night when we were recognized they gave Anne Marie a bouquet of flowers and then this morning Rao brought the flowers from Crystal Society for our room in recognition of last night's recognition.
Once again, Keith took the morning Spin Class and this time it was with Fitness Director Chase. There were six participants in addition to Chase.
On the last song of the playlist, which pretty much involved giving it 100% speed for the entire song, with just a few seconds from time to time at 80% effort, Chase challenged Keith to see who was the fastest. Of course, since the bikes don't move we'll never know who was the fastest but it did push Keith to the next level.
Anne Marie is working on organizing those items that we will be shipping home and those we will take to Rome. The reason for this is because on the next cruise it is all ports with the exception of one sea day and we want to enjoy the ports to the fullest extent possible so we felt it's better to do all of this during these sea days on board the current voyage.
The day featured not three but four lectures.
This included:
Dr. Drew Caper who spoke about Frank Sinatra.
Ken Rees who spoke about Portugal.
William Squire who spoke about trends and makeup from the Red Carpet in Hollywood.
Kim Lee who spoke about the the impact that Rodgers and Hammerstein had on Broadway.
We caught two of the lectures on television and plan to watch the other two tomorrow.
We enjoyed lunch at the Lid Cafe and in the afternoon Keith was back up at the Paddle Tennis Courts and Anne Marie walked for one hour.
This evening we will be going to the Captain's Quarters for pre dinner drinks and we will be dining at Tastes.
We wanted to share a couple of additional thoughts of the day that Captain Glenn share on the 2012 World Cruise.

Remember that how you say something is as important as what you say.
