Once again, we enjoyed a nice time on Serenity last evening.
We went to the Crystal Cove for a pre-dinner drink and listened to pianist Richard Pucci perform. Richard is from Canada and this is his first contract with Crystal Cruises.
We then had dinner at the Crystal Dining Room.
We began our meal with salads as we always do.
As to our second course which was an entree, Head Waiter Augusto made us Steak Diane. It was absolutely delicious and no calories too. LOL. Not.
Augusto and Anne Marie tried to keep the ingredient of Cream a secret from Keith. However, he finally caught on. The Filet Mignon is prepared butterfly so it is quite thin and there is no question that the sauce is very flavorful. It is not often that we have red meat nor is it often that we would have something as rich as this sauce, but we certainly both enjoyed this entree. Kudos to Augusto for making this for us.
We then ended our meal with berries.
And , then we went to the Fitness Center for three hours to work off this meal. LOL and while Keith would have loved to have gone to the Fitness Center that was not in the cards for last evening.
Instead, after dinner, we attended a Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle Party. The way this works is that if 10 or more people sign up for this party vis-a-vis the Cruise Critic site while still at home Crystal Cruises will host a party for those that sign up. This includes providing both bar service as well as canapés and the room for the party and selected members of the crew often including some of the Senior Officers will attend as well.
Other than on the first segment of the World Cruise this was the second most attended party since we joined Serenity on December 21. We would estimate that approximately 60+ fellow guests attended as did some officers and other members of the crew. We saw several familiar faces including some people who we had just dined with the night before at Prego, and we met many people for the very first time.
There was a nice mix of people including some traveling either on Crystal Serenity or with Crystal for the very first time, people who have not sailed Crystal in many years, and others who sail Crystal one or more times per year.
It was a nice event and Keith asked almost each person we spoke with if they were having a nice cruise so far and the responses were unanimous in terms of everyone having a wonderful time on board Serenity.
We didn't make it to last evening's show and went back to our room after the party. We read and wrote and got ready for another fun-filled day on board Crystal Serenity.
We slept very well and we continue to have relatively calm seas.
We began each morning the way we always do.
Keith was up early and worked out at the Fitness Center. While working out, he watched two lectures from yesterday.
Afterwards, he went for coffee at the Lido Cafe where Keith read and wrote. Then it was Anne Marie's turn. After she had coffee she walked for an hour, before we had breakfast in our room.
Keith took another indoor cycling class which this time around was taught by Fitness Director Leanne. Once again, there were two empty bikes which is in contrast to the World Cruise where all bikes were in use and there was a hefty wait list.
There were several lectures on today's program.
First up was Glenn Rosenblum who spoke about some of Broadway's Blockbusters including Gypsy and Hello Dolly.
Next up was Sandra Allen who spoke about the Tony nominated revival of Flower Drum Song.
Later in the day, Tim Courtney spoke about Hollywood Photography.
As usual, we enjoyed lunch at the Lido Cafe. We each had a salad entree.
After lunch, Keith played Paddle Tennis for three hours. The weather was cool and somewhat windy in the morning but when Keith played there was a light wind and it was warmer and sunny. It was perfect Paddle Tennis weather. Also Keith didn't have to sit out as there was never anyone waiting to play. It seemed that when someone was ready to leave another person showed up.
Anne Marie walked for an hour and then she read and wrote.
Later in the afternoon, we watched one of the lectures from earlier today and we both read and wrote.
We wanted to close by sharing two more thoughts of the day from Captain Glenn.
TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY......
Try to fail but don't fail to try.
There is no better exercise for the heart than reaching down and helping people up.

Wonderfully interesting blog entries!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to ask about laundry. Does Crystal have laundry packages and dry cleaning available?
Happy Mother's Day to Anne Marie!
