Later in the evening, there was a show just developed for the World Cruise called Pirate on the Serenity . It featured World Cruise Hostess Stacey, Cruise Director Gary, and the Crystal Ensemble lot Singers and Dancer along with vocalists Jonathan and Sara and the dance team Curtis and Beverly as well as the Galaxy Orchestra and the Astoria Strings.
Before dinner last night we went to the Crystal Cove where we sat with dear friends John and Linda.
We then had dinner at the Crystal Dining Room.
We began dinner with salads.
Keith had his standing order salad and Anne Marie had a mixed green salad. What made her salad unique as that it included small Monte Cristo Sandwiches.
We both had the same entrée which was from the modern menu and was the Teriyaki Salmon with Salmon Poke, Crisp Rice Croutons, and Baby Bok Choy. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the Teriyaki added a lot of flavor to the entrée.
For dessert, it was strawberries for Keith, which were quite tasty, and honeydew for Anne Marie.
Keith was up even earlier than usual because of the benefit of turning the clock back another hour. He got in his normal workout in the Fitness Center but instead of going to the Lido Café he went to the most forward area on the highest deck of Serenity which is deck 13 or stargazing with Astronaut Tom Jones and Chief Electrical Engineer John Rivers. More guests were out there than usual given the one-hour setting of the clocks. Keith estimates around 75 guests participated.
The knowledge of Astronaut was fantastic and the knowledge of John Rivers was also amazing. It was clear to Keith that this is a major hobby for John.
It was fairly clear when Keith first got out there although later on there was some cloud cover but it didn’t take away from what they saw. The only challenge was the light from the Moon. They turned the lights off on the outside area of the ship which allowed for much better views.
Everyone had a clear view of Jupiter. Keith also could see the Southern Cross, which we both saw very well one night during our Safari last year. They pointed out various star systems such as a triangular system and the brightest star. At the designated time, Keith saw the International Space Station. Shortly after that, we noticed a satellite and as it turned out it was the Hubble Telescope, which later in the morning Astronaut John Rivers told Keith he himself had never seen.

Astronaut Tom Jones explained the training he had to memorize locations and the names of many of the stars. He said this was important should the Space Shuttle computers lose their information related to direction. He said by aiming the shuttle at three major stars and entering this information that it would be enough for the computers to get the desired information they needed. He did point out that the Space Shuttle had six different computer systems so this was never a problem. He also said that he no longer remembered all of the starts as he used to but clearly John Rivers knew his stars.
Before breakfast, Anne Marie walked for a while and then we enjoyed breakfast in our room. Afterwards, Keith took a spin class.
Today we were anchored off of Pitcairn Island. The island is located approximately halfway from New Zealand and Panama. The population totals 250 residents with about 56 permanent residents. We think we met them all today.
It is not possible for us to get over to the Island so the Island (people) came to us. They arrived on one boat and the amount of merchandise they could fit in the boat is amazing.
From 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, locals set up a marketplace where they sold local goods on board the ship. We bought some items, mainly wooden items, which were autographed and sold by the person who made them. Jewelry was also had made. Items such as shirts and hats were made in either Vietnam, China or Haiti.
At 3:00 PM, the Mayor of the Island spoke to all of us at the Crystal Plaza.
During the course of the day, a slide show of the island was shown in the Galaxy Theatre.
We had our usual salad entrée lunch and Keith played Paddle Tennis in the afternoon and also met up with friend Bob.
Later this evening we will be dining at Silk Road with dear friends Bob and Glo
