DAY 14 - GREENCASTLE/LONDENDERRY, NORTHERN ISLAND

We wanted to begin with some photos that Anne Marie took of Keith playing Paddle Tennis yesterday afternoon.

After we posted yesterday afternoon, Keith took an indoor cycling class taught by Fitness Director Claire.  Three other guests were in the class.  It capped a day of lots of sports for Keith.

We then enjoyed another wonderful night on-board  Crystal Serenity.

We began our evening with another pre-dinner visit to the Crystal Cove where we listened to Scott Mitchel perform.  Scott will play song after song without a pause between them, but once in awhile we will clap for him and others will do likewise following our lead.    As they say it's all about timing, so we have to find that moment when one song ends.  Scott is a very talented musician.

Raymond stopped by with two different trays of canapés.  Although  we politely said no thank you, instead we asked Raymond if he would like to be in a photo each time he came around.

Afterwards, we dined at the Prego Italian Specialty Restaurant with friends David and Rocky whom we also dined with the other day at Tastes.

We were escorted to our table by both Specialty Restaurant Maitre d' Antonio who is standing next to Keith and Head Waiter Mario who is standing next to David.  As it turned out the four of us were wearing a similar color top and we didn't compare notes ahead of time with Rocky nor David.

Anne Marie with Sommelier Jiri.

We began with a little appetizer from the Chef which we did not order.

Keith had the Bronzino as his entree.

Keith also had a size order of grilled vegetables.

All in all we had a wonderful dinner, enjoying a non-stop conversation and several good laughs.

We slept well last evening as we sailed to our next port of call in Londonderry, Ireland. The seas remained relatively calm.

Keith began the day as he always does with a workout at the Fitness Center followed by coffee at the Lido Cafe while he read and wrote.

We then had breakfast in our room thanks to Rao.  We continue to eat the same breakfast each day as we do at home of Oatmeal and some fruit.

As things turned out, we did not make it to the port today.  And when we say we it was not just us, it was the Serenity.  This is a tender port and due to the high winds it was unsafe to launch the tenders so today became a sea day.

Shortly after Breakfast Keith took another Spin (indoor cycling) Class which was taught by Tamas.  As was the case the other day, Keith was the only participant and Tamas pushed him hard.  Anne Marie walked for an hour and also took some photos of Keith and others.

Just Keith and Fitness Director Tamas.

Yes, a grimace as Keith was working hard.

This was a switch.  Anne Marie takes a photo of Photo Manager Gennadly.

Antonio who works so very hard putting out towels and water, on each machine and also washing them off, bringing towels and water to the Fitness Center, and doing likewise in the spa and salon areas.

Fantastic Spa & Salon Manager Rachel who was also on board for the entire World Cruise.

There were already a number of activities/enrichment on the afternoon program and the entertainment department quickly added additional activities to the program.  This included a Q&A with World Affairs Lecture Professor Louis Beres as well as a talk by Time and Life Photographer, Neil Leifer, who shared photographs from 35 boxing fights and also shared why Muhammad Ali has been his favorite subject.

We enjoyed lunch at the Lido Cafe and we made salad entrees as we do each time we go.  Captain Birger sat next to us and a short while later Golf Pro Joe Herbert joined us as well.

In the afternoon, Anne Marie got in another one hour walk inside the ship.  Keith would have liked to have played Paddle Tennis but it was fairly windy so everyone wanted to take a day off from the tennis.  The weather forecast for tomorrow when we have our first official sea day of the cruise is very promising.  Keith spoke with some fellow guests.

We wanted to close by saying that over the past few days, two passenger's that we have sailed with, have passed.  One was Andrew Lewis who we sailed with on the 2008 World Cruise and his passing was very unexpected.  The other was David Sherer who along with his wife Martha we first met on the 2007 World Cruise and we sailed on subsequent World Cruises with them, until David became to ill to cruise.   Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of their loved one and may they rest in peace.

This evening we will be dining at Tastes with two special people and will be sure to post about that tomorrow.
