Before dinner last evening, we attended a cocktail reception held at Captain Birger's Quarters. We always enjoy these events because it is a nice opportunity to speak with fellow guests and to speak with senior officers and senior staff of the Crystal Serenity. Captain Briger took the time to introduce each of the crew members in attendance and shared some thoughts with all of us.

Afterwards, we had dinner at Tastes with friends Rocky and David. As we have mentioned in the past for those of you who have not sailed Crystal Serenity, Tastes features cuisine representing various areas of the world and it is served in small portions similar to Tapas and is served family style. From time to time some items are added to the menu to replace other items. We enjoy the entire experience between the cuisine, service and the ambience of the dining venue.

We had a few other items including a new salad which was called Roast Butternut Squash Frisee Salad.
We slept well as we sailed towards Liverpool.
Keith was up early and enjoyed a nice workout at the Fitness Center and then had coffee at the Lido Cafe. Anne Marie woke up earlier than usual as Rao brought breakfast earlier for us so we could get ready to go on tour.
There is no question that one of the cities on our Bucket List was Liverpool and one of the reasons for this is our love for the songs of The Beatles. This is why we booked this cruise in the first place.
Although it was overcast, we enjoyed the views as we arrived to Liverpool.
Anne Marie surprised Keith with a couple of Beatles Shirts and he was decked out in one of the shirts along with a hat that we got in London during a Beatles Tour that we did last year. Also, last evening friends Rocky and David surprised Keith with an early birthday present of a book about The Beatles focusing on the songs that they wrote.
The city has a mixture of traditional/older buildings, along with more contemporary buildings.
Given our limited time in Liverpool we booked a private tour. Yes, it was a Magical Tour.
This was one of the best tours we have ever taken.
We were met at the pier by our tour guide and resident of Liverpool Jackie along with driver Paul.

We also had private time with two members of the Quarrymen, Colin Hanton and Len Garry, who played with John, Paul and George before The Beatles were formed and we also had private time with Freda Kelly who was Secretary for The Beatles and was in charge of their fan club.

Rory Best, brother of Drummer Pete Best (original Beatle) took us on a one hour tour of the club.
Stuart Sutcliffe was one of the original Beatles when they were performing in Germany.
We spent an hour with Quarrymen, Colin Hanton and Len Garry, who played with John, Paul and George. Len was the drummer. This was where John first met Paul.

We also spent an hour with Freda Kelly who was Secretary for The Beatles and was in charge of their fan club. We met at the Hard Days Night Hotel Pub.
The original Cavern Club does not exist but a new one was build just nearby to the original one.
One of the major highlights of our tour, was the three hours plus of time we spent with Colin and Len of the Quarrymen, Freda, and with Rory Best, brother of original Beatles drummer Pete Best. We learned so much from each person about each of the Beatles. Our tour guide provided so much information as well. Amazing day.
This evening we will be dining in our room and then attending a concert performed on board Crystal Serenity by the Beatles Celebration Group.
