It is always interesting how one might meet others during their lives whether on a ship, at home, somewhere else on land or on some other holiday/vacation.
Anne Marie first met Jim and Judy on board our first World Cruise in 2007 which happened to be there first World Cruise as well. How and where did they meet? The answer is the Laundry Room. During the day the laundry room can be like being back at College/University and in a dormitory. It does offer the opportunity to meet others and it was that day that our friendship began. Shortly after meeting the four of us would see each other from time to time. That was back when we used to dine in the Crystal Dining Room at a table for six and on the second segment of the World Cruise we dined with Jim and Judy and one other couple. From time to time we would go to Specialty Restaurants together. We also sat at a couple of World Cruise Shore-Side Events with them and also at a couple of on board special World Cruise dinners the Maitre d' happened to assign us to the same table with them. Since that time we have sailed on the 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014 and now the 2015 World Cruises with Jim and Judy and from time to time we get together for dinner either the four of us or with maybe another couple and we also see each other around the ship and have enjoyed a very nice friendship with the two of them.
Dinner was wonderful. We even tried a couple of new dishes.
Keith had one of the specials for the evening which was Tuna Tartare as his appetizer. As described by Marija it was very spicy and that was correct and Keith found it to be very tasty. It had a unique preparation including being served over guacamole.
For her entree Anne Marie had Veal Scaloppine al Limone and Keith had the Striped Bass shown below.
One of the other entree specials was Gnocchi. This could be served as an entree, an appetizer or even a small side dish. Keith had it as a side order to his entree and shared some of it with Anne Marie. It included Lobster, Clams and Lobster Sauce and the Gnocchi was grilled rather than boiled.
For dessert, each of us had a fruit plate with melon, watermelon and pineapple.
When we arrived back to our room there was a letter on our bed from World Cruise Hostess Stacey Huston about some upcoming events of the next month. In addition, there was a card and a gift. The gift included four different napkin rings.
We slept very well as we sailed to Salaverry. The seas continued to be relatively calm. We have been very fortunate with the overall weather since boarding on December 21.
Keith woke up first and enjoyed a very good workout at the Fitness Center. Afterwards, he had coffee at the Lido Cafe as he read and wrote. He brought back some coffee for Anne Marie and then she walked for awhile inside the ship before we had breakfast in our room.
We arrived to the port by 6:30 AM, shortly before sunrise. While some people were still asleep, the birds were very much awake.
We were entertained at the port by two dancers.
We first visited Salaverry/Trujillo, Peru in 2013. The port leased the way to Trujillo which is actually Peru's second largest city.
The layout of the city is very similar to many cities we have visited in nearby areas including a large square with various statues.

The Cathedral which was constructed between 1647 and 1666, which had altars in a Baroque and Rococo style and beautiful paintings. Indoor photography of the paintings was not permitted.
Back at the port, a market was set up where locals sold various items that are made in Peru. We purchased some items and the people selling the items were very friendly. Several items are made from alpaca and there were items made from a range of materials stone quartz, animal horns and there was a nice range of ceramics.
The last purchase we made from these two very nice people.
We enjoyed lunch at the Lido Cafe and as usual we each enjoyed a salad entree.
In the afternoon, Anne Marie walked for one hour outside the ship and then she worked on her knitting projects. In addition to her own projects, she is working on a square that will be part of a blanket that is being knitted by several guests which will be presented to one of the orphanages. Similarly, this was done last year and presented to an orphanage that Keith visited (with the disease that Anne Marie has she is not to be in close contact with lots of school children) in 2014 and that we both visited in 2012 as part of one of Crystal volunteer tours.
Keith played Paddle Tennis for a couple of hours and had a great time. The weather was great.
Keith also got together with dear Bob later in the afternoon.
This evening we will be dining at the Crystal Dining Room.
