DAY 47 CRUISING & DAY 39 SERENITY
We wanted to begin by saying that yesterday afternoon, a local group performed for Serenity while we were still docked at the port of Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Before dinner last evening we went to the Crystal Cove where we sat with friends Bob and Jocelyn. We first met Bob and Jocelyn at the World Cruise 2017 World Cruise Gala in Miami, Florida as we were seated directly next to them at the event. Since then we have sailed on five World Cruises together.
We then dined at Tastes with new friends Andy and Ilene.
Our waiter was Deirdre who did a wonderful job serving an amazing dinner. This was Andy and Ilene's first time to Taste and Deirdre walked through the concept along with each and every item and then Deirdre said she would leave Andy and Ilene in our hands for a few minutes to discuss the different food offerings and to get our recommendations as well.
In keeping with the orange shirts worn by the waitstaff at Tastes, we have been dressing in orange tops as well.
There are normally three lead waiters at Tastes including Deirdre and then some personnel who take care of drinks and other personnel who help serve and clear the tables. Due to an illness they were actually short one lead waiter but you would never have known that as the wait staff works like a perfect team and they never missed a beat the entire evening.
Anne Marie with Pamela who is from Chile and live about an hour from Santiago.
We didn't take photos of the food last night as before we knew it the sun had gone down and we didn't want to distract from our dinner conversation. We did have about eight different items and as usual the food was delicious. We had two of the three desserts and we were able to convince Andy and Ilene to try all three. After all, you will never know what you prefer unless you try them all. LOL, but so very true.
We slept very well as we now sail to our next port of call in Peru.
Keith was up first and enjoyed a great workout at the Fitness Center. Afterwards, he was off to the Lido Cafe. After Anne Marie had coffee in the room, she walked for one hour. Keith returned to the Fitness Center while Anne Marie was walking to get in an extra workout. It was not as crowded as it normally is at that hour, likely as some were sleeping a little later.
We then had breakfast in our room while we watched the Daily Morning Show with Cruise Director Gary and World Cruise Hostess Stacey. We have a simple and healthy breakfast each morning similar to what we have at home.
Today was a sea day as we sail to our next port of call in Salaverry, Peru. As such, there was a lot on the program.
This included three lectures:
Jack McManus spoke about the future of Internet technology and social networking. One of the points is that things will get faster and faster or pretty much instantaneous.
Jay Wolff presented the story of Peru and this included much of its early history.
Bill Miller gave the last of his lectures about cruising and this time it focused on the wonderful port of New York including the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, its iconic bridges and other landmarks.
There were 50 or more activities on the schedule.
We caught two of the three lectures and will see the rebroadcast of the other one.
In the morning we also spent sometime at our usual spot at the Crystal Cove where we chatted with fellow guests, Officers and other crew members.
Anne Marie took the Yoga Class taught by Maria Kita with assistance from her husband Joe.
We had our usual lunch at the Lido Cafe where we each made a nice sized salad entree.
In the afternoon, Keith played Paddle Tennis. The weather was terrific and Keith played for a couple of hours.
Afterwards, Keith got together with dear friend Bob and another guest while Anne Marie went to a Knitting Class.
This evening will be a Black Tie Optional and will include a Captain's Reception. We will be dining at Prego with two dear friends.
TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY.........
